Product Description of MPO MTP Cable:


MPO (Multi-Fiber Push-on) is the first generation of clip clamping multi-core optical fiber connector. MTP/MPO cables are composed of MTP/MPO connectors and optical fibers. MTP/MPO connectors have a female type (without pins) or a male one (with pins). And a white dot is for identifying fiber position in connectors. MTP/MPO connectors largely increase the cable density and save circuit card and rack space, which are well suited for current 40G/100G cabling and future network speed upgrades.

MPO connector is a multi-core multi-channel plug-in connector, which is composed of a pair of MT sleeves, two guide pins, two shells and an adapter. Its standard feature is to use a guide hole and a guide pin with a standard diameter of 6.4 mm x 2.5 mm on the end face of a rectangular plug core for positioning and alignment.

Differences between conventional OM1/ OM2/ OM3/ OM4 optical cables:


  • OM1 is a conventional 62.5/125 optical fiber.
  • OM2 is a conventional 50/125um, OM3 (50/125, 10 Gigabit multimode fiber, including OM3/150, OM3/300), OM4 (an upgraded version of OM3, which is classified as OM4/550 by the industry), and OM5 (50/125, 10 Gigabit multimode fiber).
  • The OM2 optical fiber uses LED (Light Emitting Diode) as the basic light source in both standard and design, while OM3 and OM4 are optimized on the basis of OM2, making them suitable for transmission with LD (Laser Diode Laser Diode) as the light source at the same time. Compared with OM2, OM3 has higher transmission rate and bandwidth, so it is called optimized multimode fiber or 10GbE multimode fiber, while OM4 is further optimized on the basis of OM3, Better performance.
